How to turn a date into a plate number: January 1, 1985 becomes V 11985. March 15, 2010 becomes V 31510 (reading as 15 March 2010 in DD/MM/YY format adapted to 5 digits). December 2024 could become W 12024. The exact format depends on availability. Check the RTA website or app for your preferred combination.

Gifting a Memorable Moments plate: You purchase it under your own traffic file, then transfer it to the recipient using the Dubai Drive app transfer process (AED 120, 15 minutes). The recipient needs a Dubai traffic file and Emirates ID. If they are in another emirate, they can open a Dubai traffic file for AED 200.

2. Not checking the value first. A plate that looks special to you might be priced at a premium you did not expect. Or the reverse: a plate you think is ordinary might carry cultural weight that makes it more valuable than you realised. Always run it through the calculator before committing.
