Driving School Near Me in Dubai (2026): Every Branch by Area, Fees and How to Enrol
Quick answer: To find a driving school near you in Dubai, look up your area in the table below. It lists every branch where RTA runs driving licence training and tests, with the school's phone number. Al Quoz has branches of seven schools and Al Qusais of five; Jebel Ali, Dubai Investment Park, Port Rashid and Al Ruwayyah have two or three each. All 11 schools are RTA-approved: Al Ahli, Belhasa, Bin Yaber, Dubai Driving Center, Drive Dubai, Eco Drive, Emirates Driving Institute, Emirates Transport, Excellence, First Driving Centre and Galadari. You enrol through the RTA website or app, and a 20-hour beginner car course is listed at roughly AED 3,500 to AED 5,000 on the schools' own price pages.
Every figure in this guide comes from RTA (rta.ae, updated 20 October 2026) or from each school's own website, checked on 22 October 2026. The screenshots show the original pages; the numbered red boxes match the numbers in the text.

How to enrol at a driving school in Dubai: the official steps
You do not walk into a school and sign a contract first. In Dubai you open the file with RTA, pick the school inside the RTA application, and the school calls you. These are RTA's own steps for a new licence:

- Log in on rta.ae or in the RTA Dubai app with your Emirates ID, passport, traffic file or UAE PASS, and confirm the OTP.
- Upload your current driving licence (front and back) if you already have one. This decides how many lessons you need.
- Select a driving institute (2) and submit the application.
- Choose how to pay (3): the full package, an initial 20% of the amount, or payment at the institute.
- The institute calls you within 3 working days to agree on the training package (4).
- Your digital Learning Permit arrives by SMS and email, and training starts.
- Take an eye test at an accredited eye test centre (5).
- Book each RTA test when your training for that stage is complete. Our RTA test booking guide shows every screen.
- After the final Road Test you pay the licence fee and receive a digital licence in the RTA Dubai app.
You must appear in person when you apply at a driving institute.
Who can enrol: age and required documents

- Car (light vehicle): you can open a traffic file from 17 years and 6 months. The licence is issued once you pass all tests and turn 18 (2).
- Motorcycle: from 17 (1). Heavy vehicles and equipment from 20, light and heavy buses from 21.
- Documents: a valid Emirates ID and a valid eye test. With a residence visa from another emirate you also need proof of a Dubai link: an Ejari tenancy contract or title deed, your company's Dubai trade licence with an employment letter, or proof that you study in Dubai.
- Changing branch or school: moving to another branch of the same school is free (3). Moving to another school needs a clearance certificate and a fee set by the school. Switching between manual and automatic costs AED 220 (4).
- Female learners: several schools state that learners under 21 who train with a male instructor need a no-objection letter from their guardian. Ask your school.
How many lessons do you need?
Schools sell car courses in three sizes: 20 hours for beginners, 15 hours if you have held a licence from your home country for 2 to 5 years, and 10 hours if you have held it for more than 5 years. RTA's own page describes the reductions in training sessions:

- Foreign licence that cannot be exchanged: issued more than 5 years ago, 20 training sessions; 2 to 5 years ago, 30 sessions; less than 2 years ago, 40 sessions (1).
- Golden chance: with a previous licence you can go straight to the Knowledge and Road Tests without training, once. If you fail the Road Test, you take the training hours (3).
- Golden Visa: Theory and Road Test on the same day, and no training if you hold a valid licence from any country (2).
- Licence from an exchangeable country: you do not need a school at all; you exchange it at RTA.
What the RTA part costs
Part of every package goes to RTA. These are RTA's fees for a new licence:

| RTA item | Fee |
|---|---|
| Learning permit (car, motorcycle) | AED 100 |
| Traffic file | AED 200 |
| Driver handbook | AED 50 |
| Eye test at an accredited centre | AED 140 to AED 180 |
| Each RTA test (Knowledge, Yard, Road) | AED 220 |
| Licence issue | AED 100 under 21, AED 300 from 21 |
| Knowledge and Innovation fee | AED 20 per transaction |
Some schools put these fees into their package price and some list them separately. That is why the headline prices on the schools' sites cannot be compared one to one. Our RTA test booking guide covers the test fees, rescheduling rules and the AED 320 charge for an earlier slot.

The 11 RTA-approved driving schools in Dubai
Al Ahli Driving Center
Al Ahli has run in Dubai since 2006, starting in Al Quoz Industrial Area 4, where its head office still is. RTA lists two Al Ahli test sites: Al Quoz (all vehicles, all tests) and Jebel Ali (all vehicles, but no Yard Test for cars). The school teaches cars, motorcycles, buses, trucks and forklifts, and offers pick-up and drop-off from home or office, e-learning and an online mock test.

Belhasa Driving Center (BDC)
Belhasa opened in October 2001. RTA lists five Belhasa test branches: Al Wasl (Al Jaddaf), Al Quoz 4, Al Qusais, Jebel Ali and Nad Al Hammar, and more counters sit in Karama, Satwa, Bur Dubai and malls. Next to the regular car course, Belhasa sells Business Class and First Class car courses in premium cars. It offers free transportation, e-lectures and payment with Tabby or Tamara. Its fee table splits RTA fees, BDC fees and the hours:

Bin Yaber Driving Institute
Bin Yaber's main branch is in Al Ruwayyah; RTA also lists Jebel Ali (cars, heavy vehicles, buses, equipment) and Oud Metha (cars, Knowledge and Road Test only). The school has counters in Al Fahidi, Naif, Warsan, Al Khail Mall and Silicon Oasis, a toll-free number (800 293) and free pick-up at selected points.

Dubai Driving Center (DDC)
Dubai Driving Center was founded in 2003. RTA lists five DDC branches: Al Khail (head office), Al Quoz (no Yard Test for cars), Al Qusais (cars), Dubai Investment Park and Port Rashid (cars and motorcycles). Its course page shows every line of the price: RTA fees, theory classes, each test and the hours.

Drive Dubai (Dubai International Driving Centre)
Drive Dubai opened on 12 December 2012. Its head office and test yard are in Dubai Investment Park 2, with registration points in Motor City, Jebel Ali, JVC, Discovery Gardens and Dubai Industrial City. It trains cars, motorcycles, buses, trucks and forklifts. Its table shows the RTA fee and the school fee in separate columns:

Eco Drive Driving Institute
Eco Drive's main campus is in Dubai Industrial City, and RTA also lists an Eco Drive site in Al Quoz. The school lists about 46 branches and registration points across Dubai on its site. It teaches cars, motorcycles, buses, trucks and forklifts, and its VIP car course includes pick-up and drop-off.

Emirates Driving Institute (EDI)
EDI has operated since 1991 and is part of the Belhasa Group. Its full training and test centres are in Al Qusais and Al Quoz, with smaller sites in Hatta and Jumeirah and more than 40 branches in malls and communities. It offers 0% instalments, online lectures through its student portal, and Gold and Platinum courses. Its car price table already includes RTA fees of AED 1,350:

Emirates Transport Driving Institute (ETDI)
ETDI is part of Emirates Transport and has one site: Warsan 3, beside Dragon Mart. RTA lists it for all vehicle types and all tests. It does not publish a course list or prices on its page, so call 04 233 6555.

Excellence Driving Centre
Excellence has its head office in Al Qusais and test sites in Al Qusais, Al Quoz, Port Rashid and Jumeirah, with about 30 branches in total. Its site says RTA named it Dubai's top driving school for 2025. It offers free transport, no extra charge for evening and weekend classes, and theory lessons in English, Arabic and Urdu.

First Driving Centre (FDC)
First Driving Centre is in Al Ruwayyah 3, with a second branch in Hor Al Anz near Abu Baker Al Siddique metro. RTA lists it for cars and motorcycles with all tests on site. Its site publishes clear package prices for automatic, manual and VIP courses.

Galadari Motor Driving Centre (GMDC)
Galadari was founded in 2004. Its main centres are in Al Quoz (Industrial Area 3) and Al Qusais (Industrial Area 4), and it runs many smaller branches in malls and communities. Galadari prices car training per hour (AED 110 for the normal schedule) and lists the registration fees separately. It runs night courses and theory lectures in Arabic, English and Hindi/Urdu.

How to choose the right driving school near you
- Location of the test yard, not only the office: many mall branches only register students. Lessons and tests happen at the main centres in the tables above.
- Compare the total: add RTA fees, VAT and the eye test before you compare prices. The tables show which schools include them.
- Regular, night, weekend or shift: at the schools that publish their plans, the weekday plan costs least; evening, weekend and shift slots cost more per hour.
- Unlimited or pay per attempt: lump-sum packages cost more upfront but cover repeat tests. After a failed Road Test, RTA requires 4 more training sessions and a new AED 220 test fee.
- Language: ask which languages the instructors and theory classes use. Galadari and Excellence, for example, teach theory in Arabic, English and Urdu.
- Manual or automatic: a manual licence also covers automatic cars. Changing your learning permit later costs AED 220.

The totals depend on the schedule, the school and whether RTA fees, VAT and the eye test are included.

Not if your country is on the exchange list; you exchange the licence at RTA. Otherwise you take a shorter course, or use the golden chance to sit the Knowledge and Road Tests once without training.
