More than 3,000 used cars are listed for sale in Sharjah on LicensePlate.ae. The middle of the market sits at about AED 50,000 and the typical car is a 2019. That makes Sharjah the cheapest of the three big markets — Dubai and Abu Dhabi both ask more for the middle car, partly because their cars are newer.
Sharjah is a showroom market: 85% of the cars listed here are offered by dealers, far more than by private owners. Many of them sit in Souq Al Haraj, the city's big used-car market, where dozens of showrooms stand side by side.
A day at the souq works best if you arrive knowing the prices. Shortlist the cars here first and take the adverts with you; the same model often stands in three showrooms at three prices. Ask each dealer for the service history and how the car came to them, drive it before you talk money, and do not let a "today only" price rush you — the souq will still be there tomorrow.
| Asking price | Cars in Sharjah |
|---|---|
| Under AED 20,000 | 388 |
| AED 20,000 – 50,000 | 1,074 |
| AED 50,000 – 100,000 | 874 |
| AED 100,000 – 200,000 | 586 |
| Over AED 200,000 | 202 |
The low end is where Sharjah is strongest. Below AED 5,000, though, there is almost nothing — 2 cars at the moment. A running, roadworthy car starts higher, and a price far below the rest of the table usually comes with a reason: accident damage, missing papers or an engine that needs work.
Sharjah has the largest share of imported cars of the three — American, Canadian and Japanese-spec cars brought in by its showrooms. That is a big part of why prices here are lower. An import is not a bad buy, but it needs checks a Gulf car does not:
The history. Run the VIN through a history report. Many US cars reach the Gulf through insurance auctions after accident, flood or theft — a good repair hides that in photographs.
The spec. "American spec", "Canadian spec" or "Japanese spec" in the advert means the car was not built for Gulf summers. Test the air conditioning hard and look at the radiator and cooling system.
The price gap. An import should be clearly cheaper than the same car in GCC spec. If it is not, buy the GCC car.

Next to the big SUVs, Sharjah's list includes working and family cars — vans, saloons and American muscle cars among them. Each model page shows every one of those cars across the UAE.
Only 13% of the adverts in Sharjah say finance can be arranged, against 49% in Dubai. Sharjah's showrooms mostly sell for cash. If you need a loan, arrange it with your bank before you go — UAE banks lend up to 80% of the car's value — and walk in as a cash buyer.
Ownership is transferred through Sharjah Police traffic and licensing, with the car insured in the buyer's name, no bank loan on it and the fines paid. Pay when the transfer is done, not with a deposit before. If you drive into Dubai every day, set up Salik for the car in your own name straight after.

Most of Sharjah's used-car showrooms are in Souq Al Haraj, the city's big used-car market. Compare the cars listed here before you go, so you know the prices.
The middle car in Sharjah asks less than in Dubai, partly because the cars are older and more of them are imports. Compare the same model and year, not the averages.
Yes, with checks: a VIN history report for accident or flood damage, a hard test of the air conditioning, and a price clearly below the same car in GCC spec.
Very rarely — the table above shows how few there are. A roadworthy car usually costs more, and a very low price usually has a reason.
Every figure on this page is read from the adverts listed at the moment you load it and refreshes through the day. They are asking prices, not recorded sale prices.
