This guide covers the hybrid models listed, the price by year, budgets, the kinds of hybrid you will find, what to check on a used hybrid — the hybrid battery above all — and GCC against imported cars.

Which kind of hybrid
A full hybrid charges its own small battery while driving and can move short distances on electric power alone; it never needs plugging in. A plug-in hybrid has a larger battery that is charged from a socket and covers longer distances electrically. A mild hybrid only assists the petrol engine. Some cars sold as hybrids, such as range-extender SUVs, drive on electric power with a petrol engine as a generator. The advert or the registration card says which.
Hybrids are sold as saloons, SUVs, pickups and sports cars. The body type filter beside the list narrows it to the shape you want — a hybrid SUV, for example.
What to check on a used hybrid car
The hybrid battery. Ask a dealer for the brand to check the hybrid system and the battery's health, and look for warning lights on the dashboard. Many manufacturers give the hybrid battery its own, often longer, warranty — ask for its end date and whether it passes to you.
The battery cooling. The hybrid battery is cooled by a small fan or by the air conditioning. Ask whether its air intake or filter has been cleaned; a blocked one overheats the battery in summer.
Charging, on a plug-in hybrid. Check that the charging cable comes with the car and try a charge. Cars built for the Chinese market may use the GB/T connector rather than the Type 2 and CCS2 connectors used at most chargers in the UAE.
Ex-taxi and fleet cars. Hybrids are popular as taxis and company cars. Ask about the car's past use, check the registration history and compare the wear on the seats, steering wheel and pedals with the mileage shown.
The air conditioning. Run it at full for ten minutes with the car standing.
The transfer. Confirm the car carries no outstanding finance, and pay when it is registered in your name — never a deposit in advance.
GCC or imported
A GCC hybrid was sold by the brand's dealer here and its warranty, including the hybrid battery's, is honoured locally. An imported one may differ in specification, language and warranty cover; ask what the dealer here will service and run the VIN through a history report before you pay.
Common questions
What is a hybrid car?
A car with a petrol engine and an electric motor with its own battery. A full hybrid charges that battery while driving, a plug-in hybrid is also charged from a socket, and a mild hybrid only assists the engine.
How much is a used hybrid car in the UAE?
It depends above all on the make and model, then on the year, the hybrid system and the mileage. The tables on this page show the current asking prices by model and by model year.
Does a hybrid car need charging?
A full hybrid and a mild hybrid charge themselves while driving and never need plugging in. A plug-in hybrid is charged from a socket or a charger.
How long does a hybrid battery last?
It depends on the car, the climate and how it was used. Ask a dealer for the brand to check the battery's health, and ask for the end date of its warranty.
Hybrid or electric?
A hybrid uses petrol and needs no charger; an electric car runs on its battery alone and needs charging. The electric car page lists the electric models with their current prices.
Every figure on this page is read from the adverts listed at the moment you load it and refreshes through the day. They are asking prices, not recorded sale prices.
