Buying a used car in Abu Dhabi
Used cars for sale in Abu Dhabi on LicensePlate.ae, from showrooms and private owners. The budget links and the tables below lead to the current adverts and their asking prices.
What your budget buys in Abu Dhabi
Under AED 20,000 AED 20,000 – 50,000 AED 50,000 – 100,000 AED 100,000 – 200,000 Over AED 200,000
At the lowest budgets you are buying age and kilometres: a ten-year-old Corolla, Sunny or Altima with a long history. That can still be a good car — if the gearbox shifts cleanly, the air conditioning is cold, and the seller can show what has been serviced.
Showrooms in Mussafah, or a private seller
| Sold by | Cars in Abu Dhabi |
|---|---|
| Dealers and showrooms | 1,593 |
| Private owners | 932 |
Most of Abu Dhabi's used-car showrooms sit together in Mussafah, which makes it easy to compare several cars in one visit — and easy to be talked into the one in front of you. Take the advert prices with you. Buying from a private owner skips the showroom margin, but nobody else checks the car or the papers for you.

The model pages show every one of those cars across the UAE, with prices by model year where there is a guide.
Monthly installments
When an advert says finance can be arranged, compare carefully: a UAE bank lends no more than 80% of the car's value and over no more than five years, so every "no down payment" deal pays the first 20% from somewhere. Compare what you pay in total, including insurance and any service package that is bundled in.
A car registered in Dubai or another emirate
You do not have to buy a car registered in Abu Dhabi. A car from Dubai or Sharjah can be bought and moved to your name — the registration changes emirate during the transfer. Ask the traffic authority which inspection the car needs for that, and check the toll account: Abu Dhabi's Darb toll account is registered to the car's owner, so the new owner sets up their own.
Transferring ownership in Abu Dhabi
Before: an independent inspection, the chassis number on the registration card checked against the car, no bank loan outstanding (or the bank's release letter in hand) and no unpaid fines.
The transfer: done through Abu Dhabi Police traffic and licensing — online via the TAMM government platform or at a service centre — with the buyer insured in their own name.
Payment: when the car is in your name. Never a deposit up front, and never money for a car you have not seen.

Common questions
Where can I find cheap used cars in Abu Dhabi?
The budget links above lead to the current adverts in each price range — click one to see them. Most showrooms are in Mussafah; private sellers are spread across the city.
How do I transfer car ownership in Abu Dhabi?
Through Abu Dhabi Police traffic and licensing, online via TAMM or at a service centre, with insurance in the buyer's name and no loan or fines outstanding.
Can I buy a car in Dubai and register it in Abu Dhabi?
Yes — the registration changes emirate during the ownership transfer. Check which inspection is needed and set up your own toll account.
